Women’s Heart Attack Symptoms May Be Different

Chest pain is a classic symptom of a heart attack. But focusing on that one symptom could be deadly, expecially for women – 42 percent of female heart attack victims didn’t have any chest pain at all, according to a major new study.

Time Magazine reports that younger women have a higher rate of death from heart attacks compared to their male counterparts and compared to older women, because of their atypical symptoms, which include jaw, neck and shoulder pain. Check out all the information on this study here.

Women with a family history or risk factors for heart disease should definitely get checked out — PRMC’s Guerrieri Heart & Vascular Institute has a low-cost health check and heart disease risk assessment designed just for women.
